Fresh, Frozen or Canned Vegetables for the Win?
Hi, I’m Illy with X-Force Body, here with another tip for you. A lot of people ask me, “Illy, do I have to eat fresh vegetables? Or are canned vegetables OK, too?”
That’s a great question, because there is a common belief out there that fresh vegetables are nutritionally superior. Well, I’ve got good news for you. Freshly harvested vegetables do not have significantly greater nutritional value than canned or frozen vegetables.
You can thank sophisticated methods of food preservation and modern techniques in the canning process for this convenience. In fact, fresh vegetables that are poorly stored at the market may be less nutritious than those frozen or in a can.
Even better, you can find a wide range of canned vegetables with no salt added, no sugar added, and no added preservatives. So, check the labels. And for those of us on a budget, canned vegetables are typically less expensive. And who doesn’t like saving money?
So, remember, from a nutritional viewpoint, it really doesn’t matter whether vegetables are canned, frozen, or fresh. They are all rich in nutrients. If you have any questions, you can email me at Illy@XForceBody.com.
