Why Muscle is so Important for Aging Adults

Hi, my name is Illy with X-Force Body and today I’m here to answer one of my favorite questions from our clients. We’re going to be answering a lot of them as we go but this is my favorite and it’s about older adults and strength training. Should we strength train later in life in life, and why is it so important to strength train later in life?

This is my favorite question because my passion for this style of training we do at X-Force Body started with me working in a rehabilitation hospital and realizing that people start aging, not because of age. People start aging because with age, we start losing muscle. When we start losing muscle, our metabolism slows down, everything in our body slows down, we start getting aches and pains simply because the muscle we lost is not protecting the joins anymore and keeping the impact of the joints anymore.

So, our style of training at X-force body is orthopedically friendly, is backed up with research starting with Arthur Jones the inventor of Nautilus, and Dr. Darden. There’s a ton, a ton of studies done to prove this is the most efficient, and effective, and safe style of training. Now I get the question, “is it too late for me to start? I’ve never worked-out in my life?” It’s not too late for you to start. You can start at any point. We meet you at your level of fitness and your level of strength and we help you get stronger from there. It is safe for any age, even if you’ve never done anything in your life as far activity and exercise.

So do me a favor and make strength training a permanent part of your life. The good part is you only need two workouts per week when you properly perform them and that’s all you need to make you stronger and live a quality life. I have a joke that we always say to our clients, “the goal is to die young, as late as possible.” So lift weights two times, thirty minutes per week and you’ll thank yourself later on.
